Location. Poised in the center of downtown Anchorage, Alaska, the contemporary Westmark Anchorage Hotel, a Holland America Line Company, lies adjacent to the dramatically designed Alaska Center for the Performing Arts and across the street from the Imaginarium Science Center. This landmark property is within two blocks of the Egan Convention Center, five blocks from the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail and four and one half miles from the floatplanes at Lake Hood and Lake Spenard. A People Mover bus conveniently stops across the street from the property.
Hotel Features. Red leather chairs and a glowing fireplace grace the lobby, where large windows allow abundant, ambient light to flood the reception area. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served at the Solstice Bar and Grille, which specializes in steak and fresh Alaskan seafood. A business center and conference rooms are provided, as is complimentary high speed Internet access at a computer kiosk. A gift shop, just off the lobby, is open seasonally, and a fitness center contains free weights, an elliptical machine and a treadmill.
Guestrooms. The 200 guestrooms offer mahogany stained furnishings, framed landscapes, upholstered seating and accents in grey and cream. Each boasts curved front balconies that afford views of the city, mountains or Cook Inlet. Amenities include cable television, video game consoles and wireless and Television based Internet access.
Expert Tip. Positioned across the street from the property, the Imaginarium Science Center features creative and hands on exhibits including the Galaxy Room, Electric Dollhouse and Reptile Alley. A planetarium and lectures on wildlife and the geosciences are offered. Activities include the marine touch tank and standing inside of a giant bubble in the Bubble Lab.
